Conceal septic lids

Septic rock enclosures from DekoRRa conceal septic tank lids from 24 to 36 inches in diameter. Available in models 108, 111 and 112, the enclosures are made of RealRock material to simulate natural stone. The three models allow for heights ranging from at grade to 22 inches above grade. The lightweight units are completely hollow and durable; they will not fade in the sun or crack in cold weather. They are constructed of recyclable materials and made in the U.S.A. The enclosures are also available in Pro-R foam-walled construction for additional insulating value.

They are an attractive alternative to burying lids and relocating lids upon service and inspection. The units provide additional freeze protection during extreme weather and allow aesthetically pleasing installations in highly visible locations. 888/635-8585; www.dekorraproducts.com.

Concealment device

The Dirty Bird concealment device for residential AIRVAC 4-inch vents has a pedestal that includes a matching birdbath basin that threads into the pedestal top. The unit fits over the vent pipe 22 inches above ground. The device has a stainless steel screen installed to accommodate the flow requirements for the AIRVAC system. 866/968-9668; www.thedirtybird.com.

Rockless system

The “rockless” multipipe system (MPS) from Plastic Tubing Industries has a perforation pattern of holes and slots, which aids in evaporation and transpiration. VOID pipes can be used instead of gravel to provide more storage capacity. Optional pipe risers are connected to distribution pipe at the end of each run. The risers, capped at each end, allow the customer or service technician to check the effluent level of each line, and they also provide access for emergency pumping.

The design also uses a few small holes in the risers’ end plug to create a vent. The vent takes advantage of the thousands of feet of corrugated pipe that make up the MPS system by facilitating the flow and exchange of oxygen needed for healthy bacteria to flourish. 407/298-5121; www.pti-pipe.com.

Carbon filter

The Poly-Air activated carbon filter from Polylok removes odors such as hydrogen sulfide as they come out of the roof vent. The filter is easy to install and manufactured to fit existing pipe. The standard size cover fits 3- and 4-inch vents, and will also fit 1 1/2- and 2-inch vents with the optional reducer. Each cover contains 1 pound of activated carbon pellets. 877/765-9565; www.polylok.com.

Divide flow

The Quanics flow director/divider divides flow through a central weir and attaches directly to SCH 40 or SDR 35 pipe. It can be installed in series to distribute effluent evenly to multiple lines. Users can monitor effluent from grade, while the unit allows for alternating flows between two separate fields with a turn of the internal dial. 877/782-6472; www.quanics.net.

Sweet filter

The Sweet Air Filter from Tuf-Tite, invented by Bud Sweet of Sweet Septic, eliminates odors from roof vents. The air filter is a self-cleaning D-Vent filter that uses activated carbon to remove odors. The unit uses heat from the sun to clean and refresh itself automatically. It comes with a removable cap for easy carbon replacement, fits 3- or 4-inch pipe. Custom sizes are available. 800/382-7009; www.tuf-tite.com.
