Time-dose control with monitoring
Smart Panels from Alderon Industries give users complete control and monitoring of timed-dose systems. Users set specific dose times to the second. They can view elapsed time meters, event counters, and alarm cycle counter, and timer override cycle counter for simplex, duplex and triplex systems.
The alarm system includes a red alarm beacon mounted on top of the panel and an alarm buzzer with test/silence switches. Twenty-foot float switches are standard. The UL-listed panels can also be customized for specific applications. The system uses high-quality IEC motor contactors for pump control and includes circuit breakers, HOA switches, and an O&M manual with schematics. The panels can be ordered in single-phase or three-phase with NEMA 4X or NEMA 1 enclosures. 218/483-3034; www.alderonind.com.

Sand filter system
The GSF geotextile sand filter system from Eljen Corp. is comprised of a two-stage Bio-Matt pretreatment process that provides treatment and disposal in the same footprint. Installation is easy, and maintenance is minimal. The unit complies with the requirements of ANSI/NSF Standard 40 protocol.
Septic tank effluent is filtered through the Bio-Matt fabric while the module's design provides a large surface area for biological treatment. Open-air channels within the module support aerobic bacterial growth on the geotextile fabric interface. Effluent passes through the unit and slowly drips into the specified sand layer that surrounds it. The result is an unsaturated flow zone. 800/444-1359; www.eljen.com.
Quick 4 high-capacity chambers for large-scale wastewater treatment systems from Infiltrator Systems are lightweight and easy to handle. Applications include large decentralized residential and commercial cluster systems, wastewater remediation disposal fields, wastewater treatment plant extensions, and large resort developments. The system offers maximum strength and easy installation.
The system has scalable design flexibility and high volume storage. Designed for a 36-inch-wide trench, the chambers support wheel loads of 16,000 pounds per axle with 12 inches of cover. The chambers' 4-foot length provides installation flexibility, and a MultiPort endcap allows multiple piping options, while eliminating pipe fittings. 800/221-4436; www.infiltratorsystems.com.
Commercial wastewater treatment plants from Jet Inc. are modular and can treat flows up to 300,000 gpd and allow for phased build-out. This allows hotels, shopping centers and restaurants to be constructed without city sewers. The plants treat wastewater through the aerobic digestion process, enabling microorganisms to transform wastewater into a clean, odorless liquid. The company offers design, engineering and construction assistance, 24/7 on-site technical support, plant startup commissioning, and operator training. 800/321-6960; www.jetincorp.com.
The Omnivore grinder pump from Liberty Pumps features V-Slice cutter technology, which provides more cuts per revolution. The hardened stainless steel cutting system shreds solids into fine slurry with less jamming. An open volute eliminates cutwater, improving solids flow. Other features include a one-piece cast iron body, quick-disconnect power cord, stainless steel impeller, and dual shaft seals. Single-stage and two-stage models are available. Complete pre-designed grinder systems are available in a variety of basin sizes. 800/543-2550; www.libertypumps.com.
Bio-Sanitizer disinfecting tablets from Norweco Inc. provide safe, efficient disinfection of wastewater flows. Registered by the U.S. EPA and the Canadian Ministry of the Environment, the tablets provide a stable and effective chlorine dose, enabling facilities to consistently meet NPDES bacteria requirements. The tablets kill bacteria rapidly (99 percent killed in the first 10 minutes after contact). Any leftover calcium hypochlorite dissipates quickly. 800/667-9326; www.norweco.com.
AdvanTex AX-Max wastewater treatment systems from Orenco Systems are containerized, fully plumbed, plug-and-play units sized for large commercial and municipal applications. Units come in a variety of configurations, measuring up to 42 feet by
8.5 feet. One unit can process up to 5,000
gpd of raw sewage or 15,000 gpd of primary-treated effluent.
Systems can be installed singly or in multi-unit arrays, either aboveground or buried to grade. Units are easy to ship and set and provide high-quality treatment in a wide variety of soils and climates. The systems use attached growth treatment to produce clear, odorless effluent with significant nutrient reduction, suitable for subsurface irrigation or surface discharge after disinfection. Units reduce nitrogen up to 90 percent depending on configuration and provide reliable performance with only a part-time operator. When installed in a two-stage system, the units can virtually eliminate ammonia. Units use less than 2 kWh per 1,000 gallons treated, making them LEED eligible. 800/348-9843; www.orenco.com.

The Polylok STEP (septic tank effluent pump) system draws effluent from the middle layer (clear zone) of a septic tank, filters the remaining unwanted solids, then pumps the effluent to a dispersal field or wastewater treatment system. The system installs quickly in 19- to 23-inch-diameter openings in concrete or fiberglass tanks.
The dual-compartment design allows the filter cartridge to be removed without pulling the pump or the entire vault. The system includes a polyethylene basin, effluent filter, 0.5 hp high-head turbine effluent pump (10, 20 and 30 gpm versions available), internal piping, float switches, and a control panel. 800/701-3946; www.polylok.com.
Advanced Enviro-Septic (AES) treatment systems from Presby Environmental are passive, non-mechanical onsite wastewater treatment and dispersal systems for residential, commercial and community use. The units are NSF Class I certified and BNQ certified for secondary and advanced secondary treatment. The units remove up to 99 percent of contaminants by quickly and naturally establishing multiple bacterial treatment environments throughout the system that break down and digest wastewater contaminants that leave the septic tank. The units use no electricity and need no replacement media. 800/473-5298; www.presbyenvironmental.com.

Orifice shields from SIM/TECH FILTER prevent drain media, such as drain stone, from blocking discharge holes. A sturdy design keeps the shields firmly in place after they are snapped onto the laterals. The large amount of open area between the pipe and the shield allows for easy placement over the holes and reduces media clogging by debris. The enclosed design has a large amount of open area, but all openings are small enough to prevent media from entering the shield. Styles are available for top-discharge distribution holes and bottom-discharge holes. Shields fit pipe sizes from 3/4 to 3 inches. 888/999-3290; www.simtechfilter.com.
Control and alarm system
The Ultra Nator control and alarm system from SJE-Rhombus is designed to control two 120-volt, 1 hp or 15-amp, single-phase pumps in duplex sump pump applications. It features two receptacles to accept two 120-volt pump plugs for easy pump connection with no wiring. In normal operation, the pumps will alternate based on the pump switch level. If an alarm condition occurs (top float activates), the alarm indicator and horn turn on. The pump in use will turn off and the other pump will turn on. Pumping will continue until the pump switch deactivates (bottom float). The alternating action equalizes pump wear.
The system is NEMA 1 rated for indoor use. It features a factory-installed power cord, pump activation switch and alarm activation switch for easy installation. In addition to an audible and red visual alarm indicator, the system includes a green power on indicator and green pump run indicators. The normal/silence alarm switch is mounted externally for easy operation. The system is UL/cUL listed and available with various float switch configurations. 888/342-5753; www.sjerhombus.com. O
