Making their debut at the Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo in February, the ProVore 380 residential simplex grinder system and ProVore 680 residential duplex grinder system from Liberty Pumps were well received, says Chuck Schwabe, national sales manager.

Schwabe says pumpers and installers who stopped by his booth in Indianapolis liked the simplicity and ease with which the pumps could be used in a retrofit situation. Both systems feature a PRG-Series, 1 hp residential grinder pump with 2-inch discharge fitted inside a gray, polyethylene rotomolded basin. The 380 simplex has one pump and the 680 duplex has two pumps.

“With the 680 we have a residential controller that alternates the pumps so you get even 50/50 wear on both of the grinders,” he says. “The controller also has an alarm, and it’s all plug-and-play, so no electrician is needed to put it together; a plumber can do it all.”

While the 60-pound basin is not unique, what is unique is the concept of a grinder pump being an easy retrofit where sewage pumps were not doing the job, Schwabe says. “And that’s the whole purpose of the design and where the pump will be applied.”

Available in 230- and 115-volt packages, the grinder system comes assembled. It has a 41-gallon capacity (46 gallons with the 680 duplex) and can be installed above or below floor level.

The V-Slice cutter shreds difficult solids, including feminine hygiene products, rags, towels and wipes that can jam some pumps. The easy access, 16-bolt cover allows for quick float removal and servicing.

QuickTree technology allows for easy access and removal of switches without disturbing the pump or plumbing. The 24-inch, shallow-basin design offers easier installation in difficult soil/bedrock locations. Both systems are designed to pass a 10-foot stack test and are IAPMO listed.

The PDC duplex control on the 680 grinder system is 4.5 inches deep and 6 by 6 inches wide. It has a 20-amp breaker with reset and 9-volt backup for the audible and visual alarm. Other features include green power and pump run indicators, programmed automatic 6-hour run limiter to protect against run-dry conditions.

The 380 series has a factory-installed ALM-2 indoor alarm option with 9-volt battery backup.

The PRG-Series grinder pump (17 5/8 inches tall, 7 1/8 inches wide and 11 inches long) features cast iron construction, hardened stainless steel cutter and plate. Models include the PRG101M (115 volt, 12 amp manual), PRG101A (115 volt, 12 amp automatic), PRG102M (230 volt, 6 amp manual) and PRG102A (230 volt, 6 amp automatic). Automatic models have a mechanical wide-angle float with series (piggyback) plug. The powder-coated pumps have a maximum fluid temperature of 140 degrees F, oil-filled, CSCR-style motor and optional 25-foot power cord. 800/543-2550; www.libertypumps.com.
