Dallas event promises better weather, bigger attendance and free registration
Attendance for the upcoming Wastewater Equipment Fair in Dallas is on pace to double the turnout of the inaugural event, held last September in Milwaukee.
Thirty-three companies are currently scheduled to exhibit at the Dallas WEQ Fair, set for April 4 and 5 in Fair Park. The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5.
Current registration numbers include 165 attendees from 96 different companies. At this point in the planning for the Milwaukee fair, there were 48 companies and 80 people signed up. Final attendance in Milwaukee was 300, so if the current pace continues, about 600 people could be showing up at the Dallas event.
“Exhibitors are doing a great job spreading the word to customers in the area,” says Brad Bisnette, WEQ Fair coordinator. “People saw some great value to the Milwaukee event and have shared that experience. It’s really a simple event. You get in, see the equipment, and get out. There is no huge time or monetary commitment. Half a day and you can knock it all out while getting a ton of value from it.”
Like the event last year in Milwaukee, the plan for those two days is nothing but outdoor equipment demonstrations. Whether it’s sewer cleaning tools, inspection camera systems or vacuum trucks, manufacturers and operators will have an opportunity to get hands-on with equipment.
The decision to host the second WEQ Fair in Dallas was based on a combination of size, location and weather, Bisnette says.
“Dallas has a large enough population of its own to promote to, but it is also very easy to access from surrounding areas. The manufacturer/dealer/distributor network in the area is also strong, making it easier for companies across the country to coordinate the appropriate equipment that will be displayed,” Bisnette says. “With the springtime dates, we were also shooting for something with favorable weather. Dallas kept checking off box after box and really made sense for us.”
Attendee feedback from Milwaukee led to a few changes for the Dallas fair. The Monday/Tuesday schedule is shifting to a Tuesday/Wednesday format, and the event hours have been tightened up slightly. Also, free registration is being offered this time to qualified industry professionals.
“That will make it easier for surrounding municipalities to attend or even contractors making last-minute plans,” says Bisnette.
