Septic Tanks + Get Alerts

There are many reasons to attend the Water & Wastewater Equipment, Treatment & Transport (WWETT) Show. The education courses, networking with other industry professionals and a concert with 25-cent tap beers are all great reasons to attend. But then there’s the exhibit hall. Products from more than 600 companies take up the entire 540,000 square feet of the Indiana Convention Center. This year, exhibits are spilling out into the hallways.

You won’t want to miss this. (Register here if you haven’t already.) Here’s an advance look at some of the onsite systems, tanks, components and other equipment you can check out in February.

Advanced Drainage Systems
The Septic Stack System from Advanced Drainage Systems is available in configurations of nine, 11 and 13 pipes. The units allow for soil contact without the use of gravel, functioning as a trickle filter, dispersing effluent into the voids in and around the specially banded ADS pipe. This pipe is engineered with holes and slots, allowing it to collect and disperse the effluent as it passes over the corrugations in the pipe. Systems are available for use in both residential and commercial applications in trench, bed and mound configurations, as well as pressure dosing. 419/424-8275; www.ads-pipe.com; Booth #6119.

Aero-Stream
The retrofit Aerobic Remediator (ARU) from Aero-Stream helps restore failed systems and provides simultaneous nitrification/denitrification. The diffuser is designed to lower TSS and BOD and can be installed through a 3-inch opening. The UL-listed device induces oxygen directly into septic tanks, turning passive anaerobic environments into active aerobic environments. After conversion, the microorganisms reduce the organic matter in the tank by 80 percent and suspended solids by 60 percent. The cleaner effluent reverses the aging process and eliminates the clogging biomat. Within weeks, systems are restored to full functionality. 877/254-7093; www.aero-stream.com; Booth #4225.

RCS II
Septic Drainer from RCS II works on repairing the soil in a septic drainfield due to hardpanned soil issues. Hardpanned soil is soil that combines with sodium to form a layer of soil that will not allow air or water flow. The sodium in a septic system comes from diets, soap and water softeners. The average consumer discharges 56 pounds of sodium a year into a septic system. This hardpan soil layer causes aerobic bacteria to die off because of the restriction of airflow in the soil. An application of 4 gallons directly in the field lines after pumping and cleaning the field’s lines is required. The application amount is based on an average-size home consisting of a 1,000-gallon system or 180 to 250 feet of drainline. 518/812-0000; www.septicdrainer.com; Booth #6241.
