Looking Back: An Innovative System Stands the Test of Time

How often do you perform maintenance work on the same system for 20 years? Will the systems you install still be functioning over 20 years from now?

Each month in Onsite Installer, we feature a System Profile that relays the ins and outs of the design and installation of an onsite system — and sometimes the solution an installer comes up with to accommodate a tricky site is nothing short of genius.

We’re revisiting some of those systems in a new feature, System Profile: Looking Back. The first installment appears in the August issue (read it here) and examines an onsite system from Waterloo Biofilter Systems that replaced a failed cesspool on an oceanfront property in Gloucester, Massachusetts, back in 1997.

The story of the replacement system was featured in the July 2003 issue of Pumper magazine — Onsite Installer wasn’t created until the following year. We dug it out of the archives to share it with you. Enjoy this blast from the past, and read about the maintenance of this system over the past 20 years in the current issue.
