The debate over establishing a statewide septic code in Michigan is ongoing.

Kalkaska County commissioners tried to drop their point-of-sale inspection program for water wells and septic systems, despite letters and testimony from residents in favor of keeping the program.

Realtors in the area argued they had no influence on the county commissioners, while others say real estate interested did factor heavily in the decision to try to end the inspection requirements.
