Sump pump backup system as add-on sale?

Zoeller offers a water-powered emergency unit for water removal

Installers are often on the lookout for sources of revenue that go beyond system installation itself, like other excavating work on the same site. Now Zoeller Pump Co. offers a product that seems to have add-on sales potential for installation contractors.

The company's Home Guard Max is a high-capacity, high-efficiency water-powered backup system for sump pumps. It uses no electricity and no batteries, yet takes over when a home's primary sump system fails, helping to prevent basement flooding. It comes fully assembled for easy installation, and its small footprint allows it to fit in even the smallest sump pits.

It is powered by municipal, city or well pump water pressure, but it does not use any water until the primary sump pump system malfunctions. It removes two gallons of water from the sump pit per gallon of water used for power. Water flow is equivalent to that of a normal faucet and is required only when the unit is operating. The unit is not intended as a primary water-removal device.

The device can be used with any brand of new or existing brand of sump pump. A corrosion-resistant stainless steel float rod for dependability. More information is available at http://www.zoellerpumps.com/ProductBenefit.aspx?ProductID=65.
