The Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA) has created the Registered Professional Program for onsite treatment system installers and has begin receiving applicants. The aim of the program is to enable OOWA members to have their skills and expertise recognized by the industry and the general public. The Ontario Building Code sets mandatory knowledge requirements for onsite system installers and inspectors that the OOWA can help members achieve. The association is now an authorized delivery agent for the training courses that can prepare professionals for the Ontario Building Code examinations needed. While qualification with the province recognizes that practitioners have what it takes to install onsite systems, the Registered Professional Program is designed to recognize their professionalism and help them adapt to changes in regulatory requirements, installation techniques, and new products. The program provides a means to higher qualifications, providing a competitive advantage over those without OOWA membership and registration. The current level of accreditation is: Installers – Level I, Advanced, Master Designers – Level I, Advanced, Master Inspectors – Government Inspectors, Private/Home Inspectors Maintenance/Service Providers – Level I, Advanced, Master For more information, contact the OOWA office at 905-372-2722 or dorendt@yahoo.ca. |
