When the housing market crashed and took much of the onsite industry down with it, state associations wrestled with whether to continue their affiliation with NOWRA. They questioned whether their members could stand the cost and what benefits they were getting from the national organization.

Now as the economic recovery proceeds, albeit slowly, associations need to revisit that question. One that has decided in the affirmative is the Florida Onsite Wastewater Association (FOWA). The Board of Directors of that association recently voted to re-affiliate with NOWRA as a Supporting Affiliate.

According to Roxanne Groover, FOWA executive director, the board felt it was important for the organization – one of the largest state associations – to be engaged at a national level on issues that affect the industry. “NOWRA is delighted to welcome FOWA back into the organization, and we look forward to working with them on issues of mutual interest, nationally and within Florida,” said NOWRA president Dick Otis.
