It’s not often that the intricacies of an onsite system make newspaper headlines. But the Southtown Star in suburban Chicago this week ran a story and photos showing the first local installation of a BioBarrier system from Bio-Microbics.

"New Septic System has Sewage Geeks Jacked"

In the story, Terry Pedigo noted that his father’s six-unit building in New Lenox represented the first install of the BioBarrier membrane bioreactor from Bio-Microbics in Will County, and he said it was only the second such install in Illinois.

Ray Tebo, of New Excavating Technology, which installed the unit, is excited about the prospect of using the BioBarrier in many applications in the future.

“To be able to use it on anything will be great. There are so many neat things you can do with recycled water. It seems like every day we are coming up with new uses. Everything is becoming more green,” Tebo told the newspaper.

The building owners reported that they didn’t have enough room to replace a failing system with a traditional onsite system used in the area, so they wanted to go with newer technology to save space.
