In the decentralized wastewater industry, managing residential sewage on properties with challenging footprints or strict environmental restrictions can require a significant step up from conventional gravity-fed septic systems. Inside the tank, a quiet, aboveground blower introduces air into a central draft tube. This air-lift mechanism oxygenates and circulates the wastewater continuously over a structured block of plastic media. A robust biomat of naturally occurring, nitrifying bacteria attaches to this media, aggressively breaking down BOD and TSS. Because the bacteria are firmly anchored to the media rather than suspended freely in the liquid, the system naturally resists sudden hydraulic surges or the occasional “toxic shock” from harsh household cleaners.
The “0.5” designation represents a treatment capacity of 500 gpd, perfectly sized for typical single-family homes or small commercial installations. What genuinely sets the Flex model apart within the onsite industry is its structural modularity.
