Year after year, organizations fund grant programs to improve water quality by helping people repair or replace failing onsite systems, and a story from upstate New York shows such money isn’t just being poured into holes in the ground.
In July, The Post-Star of Glens Falls reported that in a small area of Lake George where septic systems have been replaced, the presence of algae fed by untreated wastewater is down 25 percent.
