CalAmp signs agreement with Caterpillar to supply wireless communications solution

CalAmp Corp. a provider of wireless products, services and solutions, has entered into a development agreement with Caterpillar Inc. to provide the heavy equipment manufacturer with ruggedized wireless routers that will enable vital data communications for equipment deployed around the globe. 

Under the agreement, CalAmp is providing a customized version of its Vanguard mobile wireless broadband router for multicarrier operation on both CDMA and GSM networks around the world, as well as a satellite communication version of Vanguard for connecting with Caterpillar equipment deployed in remote locations without cellular coverage. 

“Robust and reliable, Vanguard offers ubiquitous operation and carrier network redundancy, as well as broad versatility for connecting both remote fixed and mobile assets to enterprise applications,” says Mike Zachan, vice president and general manager of CalAmp’s Wireless Networks business. “We are looking forward to helping Caterpillar realize its broad objectives for enhanced services and product innovation.”
