Multitank system a fit for college campus
Problem: The new Colorado School of Mines Quantum Computing Lab in Arvada, Colorado, needed a replacement for the now defunct holding tank and wetlands used at the old Quantum lab.
Solution: A large multitank system consisting of two 2,000-gallon single-compartment tanks and one 1,000-gallon dosing tank, all from Front Range Precast Concrete, was installed. The system utilizes duplex Orenco PF500712 pumps, passing through an Endress & Hauser ProMAG W400 flowmeter, and then finally a six-zone automatic distributing valve where it is then pressure dosed to a six-zone, 4,000-square-foot field with Infiltrator Quick4 Plus Chambers.
Result: The system, designed by JVA Consulting Engineers and installed by Diamond Contracting, has performed as advertised.

Precast tanks help plant deliver precision under pressure
Problem: Located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, the Goodbee Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant required a high-capacity, modular system that could fit within a constrained footprint while addressing access, noise and future expansion needs. The system was designed as a 100,000 gpd plant with the ability to expand to 0.5 mgd and ultimately over 2 mgd.
Solution: Precast sections from Gainey’s Concrete weighing up to 60,000 pounds were set at reaches approaching 93 feet, requiring detailed crane planning, custom rigging and an eight-point pick system to safely distribute lifting forces. Tight rural site access further complicated logistics, requiring careful coordination of deliveries and crane setup. Engineered tongue-and-groove joints allowed only 1.5 inches of vertical engagement, making precise alignment critical to performance. Precision casting maintained strict tolerances across spans, contributing to a successful first fill test with zero leaks, an uncommon result for structures of this scale. Rain created unstable ground near excavations, requiring real-time lift plan adjustments, while poor soils in select areas required pile-supported foundations for long-term stability.
Result: By leveraging large-format modular precast construction, Gainey’s minimized field assembly time and delivered a durable, expandable wastewater solution built for long-term performance.
