The Deltin Suites is a 106-room five-star hotel with a casino and two restaurants in Goa, India. The hotel had an MBBR-based 25 KLD treatment system which was significantly undersized, took up a lot of space, and needed three shifts of operators to run. The result was a terrible odor, that was offensive to guests and the surrounding residents. Deltin spent a handsome amount of money each month to have the sewage carted away in tankers every two to three days.
Challenges
A major challenge was space – every square foot of the property was utilized for the hotel/casino, access roads, parking, utilities, pool, etc. The only available space was a small garden between the old sewage treatment plant and the reception area. Another challenge was the continued operation of the old STP while the new one was commissioned. Since the only available location was right next to the reception, aesthetics was very important.
Solution
The designer designed a 75 KLD system to cope with the higher load and to squeeze between the open space and the old treatment system using MyFAST 2.0 with AMS and BMS options. Once the MyFAST 2.0 and AMS were installed in the new tanks the old system was decommissioned and grassy area was laid on the old STP tanks, and a parking space was created with the new tanks.
Result
The MyFAST 2.0 replaced the old STP with a new one with three times the capacity using less space and no full-time operator. Space was freed up for parking and a waiting room while the overall aesthetics of the area were improved.
