Aerobic Treatment

BioMicrobics HighStrengthFAST

The HighStrengthFAST wastewater treatment system from BioMicrobics is a robust and simple aerobic treatment system utilizing submerged, fixed-film activated sludge technology. The technology treats domestic and high-strength wastewater for onsite, decentralized applications. It is ideally suited for small community and commercial usage with extreme environments, such as specialty food/beverage/agriculture applications. It contains attached growth media optimized for biological wastewater treatment that handles heavy-duty solids loading, especially for high BOD concentrations and higher FOG levels. An above-grade blower — the only moving part in the treatment process — pushes air into the airlift, recirculating oxygenated water throughout the submerged media. These attached-growth microorganisms break down the organic material in the wastewater. The excess solids settle out of the media to the bottom of the tank, where they are stored for intermittent removal. 800-753-3278; www.biomicrobics.com

IMET Septic Remediation Modules

IMET Septic Remediation Modules are inserted into existing septic tanks. The modules house extremely large and diverse aerobic microbial populations within the pore structures of the multimedia in its fixed bed. In addition, air bubbles are entrapped within the multimedia. As a result, an aerobic environment within the septic tank is sustained at all times. The result, when installed correctly, is very low effluent BOD and TSS concentrations while eliminating odor related to hydrogen sulfide formation. They can be also expanded to significantly minimize total nitrogen when it is required. Aerobic microorganisms continuously seed the effluent, therefore also remediating failing drainfields. 440-799-3135; www.imet.net

ATUs

Eljen Geotextile Sand Filter

The Eljen GSF, or Geotextile Sand Filter system, is designed to provide treatment and dispersal in the same footprint with easy installation and minimal maintenance. It is used for commercial and residential applications. Utilizing a two-stage pretreatment process, the geotextile modules apply filtered septic tank effluent to the soil, increasing the soil’s ability to accept effluent and increase the long-term acceptance rate. Its design provides increased surface area for biological treatment that greatly exceeds the module’s absorption area. Open-air channels within the module support aerobic bacterial growth on the module’s geotextile fabric interface, surpassing the surface area required for traditional absorption systems. The system is tested and certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 40. 800-444-1359; www.eljen.com

Norweco Modulair

The Modulair package wastewater treatment system from Norweco is a reliable, maintenance-free method of wastewater treatment available for commercial, industrial or small municipal applications. With system capacities ranging from 1,500 to 500,000 gpd, plants are pre-engineered to accommodate current, as well as future treatment needs. They employ the extended aeration treatment process to quickly and efficiently oxidize organic compounds in the most cost-effective manner. The system can be easily enlarged or modified and has the flexibility for any treatment requirement, including pretreatment, AFE, ASH, tertiary, disinfection, denitrification and phosphorous removal. Non-clog Evenair diffusers reduce plant maintenance and the Air-lift surface skimmer simplifies maintenance. Heavy-duty reinforced precast concrete tanks provide durability and long life to each plant. 800-667-9326; www.norweco.com

Commercial Treatment Systems

Jet Inc. Commercial Systems

Commercial wastewater treatment extended air plants and newer MBBR plants from Jet Inc. are modular, can treat varying strengths and flows from 1,500 to 300,000 gpd and allow for phase build-out. This makes it possible for convenience stores, motels, shopping centers, service stations, factories and subdivisions to be constructed far from municipal treatment options. These systems may also be used for pretreatment before discharging into central systems to reduce overall system load. The time-tested plants utilize a variety of controls and treat wastewater through an aerobic digestion process that enables microscopic living organisms to transform wastewater into a clear, odorless liquid. 800-321-6960; www.jetincorp.com

Orenco AdvanTex AX-Max

AdvanTex AX-Max wastewater treatment systems from Orenco are containerized, fully plumbed units sized for larger commercial and municipal applications. Units come in a variety of configurations, measuring up to 42 feet long by 8.5 feet wide. Systems can be installed in single or multi-unit arrays, either above ground or buried to grade. They use an attached-growth treatment method to produce clear effluent with significant nutrient reduction, suitable for reuse or surface discharge after disinfection (per local regulations). One unit can process up to 5,000 gpd of raw sewage or 15,000 gpd of primary-treated effluent. Units reduce nitrogen to 90% or more, depending on configuration and provide reliable performance with a part-time operator. Units are easy to ship and set, and have been installed in a variety of soils and climates. 800-348-9843; www.orenco.com

Septic Products 50B019-120DD-2CAL

The 50B019-120DD-2CAL from Septic Products is a duplex alternating bio aerobic time-dosed control panel that runs two single-phase, 120-volt pumps up to 20 full load amps and also runs two compressors. This panel has two lights. The red light and buzzer notify the end user of a high-water condition. The amber light and buzzer notify the end user of air loss from a compressor. This panel has a repeat cycle timer in it to be set for a time dose application. The purpose of “time dose” in wastewater treatment typically refers to a method used in systems like septic tanks or other biological treatment systems, where wastewater is introduced into the system in controlled doses over time, rather than all at once. This creates benefits such as improved treatment efficiency, enhanced biological breakdown and improved system longevity. A duplex alternating control panel that runs two compressors in a wastewater treatment system focuses on the specific needs of wastewater systems, where compressors are crucial for processes like aeration or gas handling. 419-282-5933; www.septicproducts.com

Fixed-Film Bioreactors

RioVation BioMaze BM26510HSC

The BioMaze BM26510HSC from RioVation is a suspended biofilm generator designed for higher-flow applications. It combines efficiency and flexibility to manage higher-capacity flow rates while delivering exceptional effluent quality.
